HELP! car will not go in park posisition
« on: January 30, 2012, 09:13:51 PM »
I tried to park my ford explorer just now and it locks up trying to get into park. It will not go in park.  I put it in neutral with the parking brake on. is it the tranny? *censored* it only has 144,000 on it. I hope it isn't the tranny. It is a 2004 for explorer XLT.

My Dodge Ram did that, and it ended up being the neutral safety switch was jacked up.
Good luck, I really hope it isn't the tranny!  I just replaced the one in that Ram and it was $3600 all told   :bash:

Check the brake indicator switch behind the brake pedal. Long shot, usually only works for when it is stuck in park not the other way around but who knows. Best of luck.
