mt whitter archery elk hunt

I drew the mt. whitter archery tag it starts oct. 11 to 17 Ive been scouting alot and Ive noticed the larger bulls have there cows and they dont seem to be calling very much. does anyone have any experience calling this late in the season ?

I've spent a fair amount of time up there. But the brush is starting to get out of control. Which side are you coming in from? Coldwater, Werhauser, Green river? Stomped all over Panhandle Lake, Snow Lake, Venus. You may get snowed out this year!! Heard very few bugles this late. Gotta ambush them!

going in from the end of cold water lake, the basin at the head of cold water creek seems to have some large bulls in there.

Thats exactly where i would spent my time. But expect some competition.

they gave out only one tag bull tag for archery so I should be alone ( I hope )

I was up there last year the weekend before Rifle opened for deer and the bulls were going nuts.  I would yell and the bulls would bugle back at me, fun stuff.  Good Luck on the hunt.  Are you gonna take a boat to the back of the lake?

Ya I will be taking the drift boat in it will shave just over 4 miles off the trip in.
