I went out with my camera this morning, looking to find a snowy owl in the shrub-steppe. I didn't find one, but came across this guy, who let me take his picture first from 100 yds, and later at 330 yds. (I am not going soft. This was on private land, where I had no permissionto hunt.)

You can see in this critter's "catchlight" (eye reflection) that I had some vertical movement of the camera. The shot was necessarily hurried and offhand. No time for a tripod!

I plan to have the rifle in my arms on Friday...
