Hoyt, Bow tec, Mathews, Looking for a new bow 2012???????
« on: December 22, 2011, 10:54:18 AM »
I talked to two of the big bow pro, shops and was told that the best new bow to get is probably  Bowtec.destroyer, i have never owned a bow tec. started with a Mathews for 13years then the last 3 years has been a Hoyt alfa max, i have always left it up to the pro shops to decide for me being that they have a lot more in site into all new stuff
and i let my loyalty cloud my judgment. would like a little help from some that don't do the same thing as me let your loyalty get in the way of best way to go. Thank Brian

i would love to know what you find out im interested in getting in to bow hunting and those are the three manufacturers that i have been interested in. i have heard the hoyt carbons break quite easily and that there is not much of a warranty on them but i dont know how reliable that info is.

I have the Destroyer 350 and really enjoy the bow.  I bought it last year and went through the whole gambit of bows.  The two that stood out for me were the Destroyer and the Mathews Z7.  The Z7 seemed a little bit smoother than the destroyer, but the destroyer was cheaper and that is why I went the route I did.  This is just my opinion based an what felt good to me and was in no way based on brand.  Both the PSE and hoyt bows just did not feel right to me and my shooting style (absolutly nothing against those bows).  The best advice I can give is don't let others tell you what to shoot, shoot the bows and the question will anwser itself.   :twocents:

The best thing to do when bow shopping is shoot every bow that you can (all brands and models) that is properly set to your draw length and a comfortable poundage. One will definietly stand out to you. Let the bow pick you.

i bought this years hoyt crx 32 before i went broke lol, and i shot the mathews z7 and the hoyt and liked the hoyt a lot more. its faster, just as silent, better balanced and more. but ive never shot a bow tec. but i would buy the hoyt over the mathews all day long. but thats just my 2cents

Shoot all of them and then pick the one that feels best to you.  Otherwise the fanboys will have you convinced that their bow is the only one.  Don't limit yourself to those 3 choices either.

I think he meant to say buying one of these will make you go broke.

Ditto this X 1,000.

Me telling you that you should buy one particular bow is about as silly as me telling you to buy one particular brand/model of boot.  All of us have different physical builds, limitations, and preferences that will make one bow stand out over others.

The last time I upgraded, I shot about 15 different bows.  I shot all of the big name brands, and the Mathews Q2 stood out head and shoulders above the others, to ME.  I don't care what someone else prefers, nor should you.  I shot some bows over Thanksgiving thinking I might upgrade.  I admit, I am a Mathews homer and am pretty loyal to their bows.  I kept hearing raves about the Z7, so I shot it.  I liked the Monster MR 7.0 better.    Moral of the story, shoot them and go by what you think, not by what the pro shop dude tells you to buy.
