Leupold rocks!
« on: December 22, 2011, 06:47:21 PM »
Just got a scope back from Leupold that I sent in for repair.  They did it at no charge and turned it around in a couple weeks.  Clearly the issue with the scope was 100% my fault as you can see by the letter I sent (below).

Stuff like this is why I am slowly replacing the scopes on my favorite rifles with Leupolds.

Here is the letter I sent:

To:  Technical Support
Regarding:  Request for Scope repair

Please find enclosed a VX3L 4.5-14x56  I purchased this scope around December of 2008.  A friend was using it on a deer hunt this year and dropped the rifle.  I did not think much of it, but there was a “ding” on the Elevation Cap.  Last week I went to move the scope to a new rifle.  I mounted the scope, and when trying to bore sight it, I found that the cap was not wanting to unscrew – I believe that the cap was damaged in the fall and not allowing it to turn on the turret.  Not one to leave well enough alone, I covered the cap with a towel and used a set of pliers to lightly grip the cap and turn it.  With some effort it began to unscrew.  I continued to unscrew the cap only to find out when it came loose that I was not actually unscrewing the cap, but the entire turret!

At any rate, I am reluctant to try and further break this scope myself and was hoping I could send it in for repair.

Thanks!

I called to see about replaceing the rubber eye peice on my binoculars.  They had me send in and they replaced both ocular lens free of charge. Great customer service also. Ended up talking to tech for over and.hour, and setting up possible hunt with him. AAA products. Will never use any other
Now therefore, please take your weapons, your quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field and hunt game for me

I am always glad to give them my business. Hearing stuff like this just reinforces my experiences with this great business.

I try to buy American. One more reason to give them my business. I just wish they would bring back their gold ring binos. I want some new ones but they don't have a set of binos I would buy.

I've had similar experience with them.  All of my optics are Leupold because of their quality, warranty and awsome customer service.

I have always had positive experences with Leupold. They take care of the people who buy thier products. My latest success story with Leupold was my wifes Vari x III being out of focas on 6x and higher. Sent it in, and they callled and gave us our choice of a scope of equal value and performance or upgrade us to a better scope. We took the upgrade and we both harvested our Mule deer with her rifle/scope! Thanks Leupold!

Leupold is an awesome company!   I sent a scope to them to have heavy duplexes installed.  They had the scope back to me in under 2 weeks and threw in a hat, lens pen, stickers and a bunch of lens cleaning wipes.

I'm glad i saw this, I have an old 80's variX II that has a weird dark blob inside the scope, no rattling and it still works with no visual impairment, but now's probably a good time to take care of it.

Be sure to report what happens, I am sure they will fix or replace it.
