Was this show long range pursuit?  Were they hunting mule deer in NM?  If it was here is the muzzleloader they were using.

well ya know ...all the old timers maybe need to realize that new technology is come your way fast .. with the muzzys being able to shoot a jacket bullet now days its like given them a rifle ...and they do now drop some game !
If all of this is true, what's the point of muzzy season?   Might as well spilit it in two and give the archers and mod guys each a couple more weeks each year.

This just lends creedence to the fact they aren't a primitive weapon anymore. My next statement would bring the wrath of the Muzzleloaders upon me!

that show is a joke!
only saw a couple of them and they drove down a road until they saw a big buck, got out, ranged it at like 912 yards, laid down, dialed in the scope and shot, then drove to the next road just above the buck and walked 100 yards to it
thats not hunting!!!

225 yards seen it done with a deer.   325...  Definitely possible but would take practice and some good bullets...

The boxlock here is what I will use...

This will show the potential of a non inline rifle.

For me, 75 yards is a long shot with my muzzleloader. Anything over 200 and I'd do just as well with a slingshot.
