Looking for a pointing lab stud
« on: December 24, 2011, 07:56:44 AM »
Misty is a little over four years old now, and it's time to think about my next huntin' partner.  She is out of Tri-Lab Kennels in Tonaskit.  Misty has had her hips, elbows, and eyes done.  I still need to do the IEC screening.    The stud must have all his health certificates as well.

I got a nice setter that would get you all color phases and tons of point instinct and high tailed style.  :chuckle:

Larry, I have my dark yellow/red male that you could use. I also know of another one or two in the state. Are you particular on color? I have posted a few pics of him on here over the years, I think there is still a pretty good one on page 4 of the "show us your hunting dog" thread. Like you I am getting out of raising the birds but keeping the dogs  :chuckle:.

Here's a good start. Most dog people like talking shop. Call and pick their brains about PL studs. (dogs which are afraid of birds that is... :chuckle:)

tiger mountain PL's is where Ryan at long hollow started out if im not mistaken. it would be worth your while to give them a call.

I got my pup from longhollow, but he has a lot of tiger mountain in his papers. the little guy did a lot of pointing when he was smaller, but I never encouraged his pointing instincts much so his point is stuck on intermittent.  :chuckle:

That sounds like an idea.  Is he a pointer?

I have one of John's dogs out of Teddy.  Definately something to consider.

I noticed Ryan's dog is one of Teddy's son's.  Also worth considering.

Yes, Larry, he does point. We will be working on that a bit more with the remaining chukars I have (about 50). I hope to get him into some birds in weather before it all ends in hopes that a few will hold a bit. Seems all the birds we have been in so far this year just do not hold at all. Once they go so does he. My daughter shot her first valley quail over him yesterday :IBCOOL: on the way home from our cabin in Okanogan, a milestone for us for sure .

Which male and female is your dog from?  How old?  Mine is from Amber and JT and is just about 2.5 years old.
