I'm out for the trip :sry: between the new puppy and the obedience classes and the kids and their schoolwork, we wont be coming this year. we had a blast last year and would really like to show but no dice. hope this is enough notice for Rasbo and such to figure out the boat situation. again  :sry:

So I wont be able to make the trip with you guys in June :'( But I am going for memorial day :IBCOOL: and taking my wife and 2 kids 9 and 4.  My question to you guys from around there or who have been there is should we camp at lyons ferry koa or green valley rv park about 40 mile from koa?  I am going to leave the boat at home so which place has more land access for fishing and which place is more kid friendly if they want to get wet?  I have never been and really want to hook the kiddos up on some good cats

I'd still camp at Lyon's Ferry.  If you don't have a boat, you can drive across the bridge to the state park on the other side of the river.  Nice place w/breakwater for taking the kids swimming.  Plus, you can hike out onto the breakwater and fish for cats on the other side of the dike.  Alternatively, you could hike up the Palouse and catfish from the bank.

The State hasn't run the park a Lyon's Ferry for a while.  Columbia County ran it for a while and called it quits.  So now the Corps only has the day use area open, (the campground and boat launch on the NORTH side are closed).

Correct, he said he isn't bringing the boat and was looking for a place to take the kids to swim.  It's still open for day use...right?

You are correct ET I just booked a spot.  The lady said we can drive across the river and kids can swim there.
