Late archery
« on: December 26, 2011, 05:17:25 AM »
Well, had the multi-season tag this year. Passed one buck up in the general rifle season. Have not archery hunted near as much as usual on account of the dry, stagnant weather.  A typical season, by now, and I will have seen at least a couple of bucks to this point, but this season has been horrible, for me.

Was gonna hang it up and do my hunter reports, yesterday, but decided to make one more trip to the woods this morning. You ever go hunting and know that all your doing is spending money on gas and that you will not do any good? I cannot help but get that feeling today, and all the other days that I have tried this year.

Lol, but hunting is still hunting and it is better than sitting here watching t.v. My last gasp of the year:/

 On goes the camo...

Exactly the same for me.
Passed on spikes in all 3 seasons, but have yet to see a 2pt or better in the daylight. Haven't been archery hunting as much as I could or should, but just might get out today.

Good luck.

Took this weekend off, kind of discouraged. Probably waste some more $$$ on gas on the 31st then call it a season. :bash:

Saw 10 does this morning.  I forgot my release at home, but we couldn't get any shot for my dad.

Well, saw a few does. Put a stalk on a couple of bedded does hoping that there was a buck nearby. Got within 60 yards and could not get closer as they were on the other side of a steep draw. They were in the bottom of a clearcut, though, it would have been a wide open shot, if I wanted a doe. They, eventually, got up and walked away, just the two of them:(

If memory serves me right, the goal of hunting is to put something in the freezer.  I have, yet to meet that goal, but I'll be back next year; I enjoy the hunt, almost, as much as the bagging.  Just wish it didn't cost so dang much.  I remember when you purchased one license, covering all game, for $20.00 and a $2.00 tag for deer.

Gonna try the Ft Lewis Hunting; it's getting too dangerous and cost too much for me to continue with Mossey Rock/Winston Creek.  I have heard some of the loudest "Bow Releases", ever, in the Winston Creek Area.  :yike:

Well, spent my last morning looking for deer in 454 but only saw one hunter and six hikers. Its so thick in there I do not know how the deer get around in it. Hunted off the 18, looks like you really have to get to know the area before having much success.

Time to fill out my hunting report :(

Will try again next year

One more day left, will give it a go, hopefully I'll have a picture for tomorrow.  This is my 2nd year ever not getting a deer, since 83....  I did get an elk, but a deer should be a gimmee.......  Can't figure out why I'm not seeing much this year.  Good luck to everyone tomorrow!

Something was definitely different this year in November and December that kept the deer from moving with any regularity on the west side. I think this is my third or fourth year on this site and I don't remember so many folks complaining about the lack of deer movement and or not tagging out.
I know the deer where in my area they just shut it down after all that weird high pressure stagnant air we had the two weeks after Thanksgiving. Never picked back up again for me.
It will be interesting to see what the cams pick up on the next few months.
