Moose in Alberta?
« on: January 01, 2012, 11:13:21 AM »
Anyone moose hunted in Alberta?  Looking for an archery hunt that keeps within the budget (Yukon was a bit too expensive to justify   :(  )  but offers a chance at a big bull.

Thanks.

Thanks.  I've been on there.  $5000 or less.  Trying to save my dad some $$ since he's picking up the tab.  Wanted to do the Yukon thing but coulod not justify $15000 for a moose.  I'd like to use my bow and would hope for a chance at a 50"+.  It'd be cool to be in an area where a bonus deer might be a possibility.

I'm looking at Trophy Hunters Alberta as one choice.

My uncle used to guide for moose there, family in Edmonton, let me see if I can get hold of them, see if they know anybody...

Too bad you weren't willing to do a DIY hunt and didn't apply for some special permits in the recently past Alaska drawing.

Skyval, I'd really be up for that some time.

This hunt needs a few more conveniences as my almost 72 year old dad is sponsoring it and planning on coming with me.  I think he is just going to be an observer though as he is hoping to draw in CO with his 11 points so he can round out his moose mounts with a Shiras moose.

Hey Ed, I've seen some post here about Ambush Outfitters. They are up around Prince George. I talked to them at the sportsmans show last year. They had hunts for around $4500-$5000 I believe. I'll bet they will be at the sportsmans show this year also. A couple of others I've looked at are Omineca Outfitters and  Moose Island outfitters. I looked at them all last year but wasn't able to fit it in my budget. They were all in the $5,000 range which is as good as you're going to find. They all offered a black bear combo, but I don't know about deer.
I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I'm not!
