I qould use a .410 with TSS loads.  I know expensive but this bird was taken at 38 yards his longeat was 41 so far.  Patterns at 40 yards 180 pellets in a 10" circle.  This .410 had a super turkey choke to.  If you ser it up right and pattern it a .410 works.

Apex, Nitro, Federal all have TSS loads for the 410. Why not turn that gun into a 40 yard gun. Yes the shells are spendy but worth it in the long run. Is the barrel already threaded? If not you may think bout getting it threaded if you don’t like the patterns. A few choke makers are coming out with 410 choke tubes very soon meaning in the next few months.
