I have been up in the area a couple of times sighting in rifles. I have seen a couple of cow elk but no sign of wolves, yet.........

maybe some well fed coyotes....I have lived in Carbonado 22 years and hunted around here most of my life, never seen a wolf or a wolf track.
I've spent most of my life hunting and fishing....the rest has been wasted

If there are wolves up there the animals are f'd, between the poachers and the wolves....forget about it!!!  Its too bad because there could be some great hunting up there if the inbred (not all, I have a friend that lives up there) pieces of crap would quit poaching. I would bet wilkeson is one of the most poached areas around.  As far as wolves being there, wouldn't surprise me but someday absolutely.  They are already and have been in the morton area for years, can't imagine it will take them long to cover the ground over to this side.

That sucks, you should try and call the land owner but I suppose that will just get the road locked, I don't blame them for locking up the place.  Keep calling the warden involved with your cases and ask for some answers. Good luck

For the record, when I go up there to sight in a rifle, I leave NO garbage of any kind. I even pick up my brass. Even other peoples brass that was left behind.

Inbred?  Really, as if I have not heard this remark ten thousand times, havent had someone say it to my face and still keep all their teeth yet. The wardens and also a family friend works overtime with the wardens and spends a lot of time up there during seasons.  Most of the people that I have encountered that do wrong up here are the morons from Seattle, Tacoma, and all the areas with no access to recreation.  They come up this way thinking they can get away from everything, little do they know Pierce County and WDFW patrol this area quite often.  I have seen one poached animal in this area.  Lot less then what I have seen in White River, Greenwater, Loomis, Stampede, Mossyrock and a few other areas.

The inbred comment was meant for the poachers, I just would like to get under their skin if at all possible, I'm sure there is a few that check out this site. I have grown up in the area(just outside wilkeson) my whole life and one of the biggest poaching families are from the wilkeson area, I'm sure if your from the area you know who I'm talking about. And they are just one of at least two big poaching families that live there. Anyway, I wasn't out to offend you, just the inbred piece of crap poachers that just can't seem to stop and grow up.

Ya I'm aware of who your referring to and I know the inbreeding is out of hand.... Joke! But in all seriousness the poaching can be a problem but I find other peoples rights and treaties piss me off more. I just don't understand how poaching is even fun because I don't understand how one can get satisfaction from killing something illegally or ethically wrong. It is a problem everywhere and always will be those bad apples. I am just trying to redeem my points.

The treaties are messed up, they also piss me off more than anything we have. And now we have to start dealing with the wolves!! It's not looking too bright for our hunting future.  I hope you get your points, when people stick their necks out to help stop poaching they should get what is supposed to be given to them. I hate the fact that they have to be prosecuted in order to get your points, I think if you have enough evidence to get them a ticket then you should get your points.  Just because the prosecutor doesn't want to take it to court shouldn't stop you from getting points in my opinion.  Good luck

I like the area up there.  My wife and I have hiked in many of the areas up there. The TV's and crap that were up there were all cleaned up.

Ha, I'm not from there, but I know of both families that you're talking about.  Their "tradition" goes way back too.  Hunting in the park...  They've had their share of run ins with the law, and some in the families are pretty legit, but they definitely are well known to skirt the law...  As far as wolves, it wouldn't shock me, but I think they wouldn't waste their time there when they could just cross the creek and have there way in Hancock with all the elk.

On a side note, is the road that goes south (the one to the right past the gravel pit) still locked?  I remember driving in there 15 yrs or so ago, right before they locked it.
