The next 3 season setting process is still being addressed,  the proposals will go to the Commision in March.
Thank you for the info Brian

Has there been any proposals yet?  I haven't heard boo yet.  I thought I read somewhere that do to puget cuts it was gonna be a "same-as-the-last-three" proposal.

This is as far as they have gotten in the process:   http://wdfw.wa.gov/about/regulations/2011/wsr_11-24-102.pdf

Give it about another month, and I bet we'll be seeing some preliminary seasons.

I'm just wondering if modern firearm for deer will open on the 13th or the 20th.   I'm betting they'll shoot for the 13th to keep the harvest down, but I'm hoping they'll go for the 20th.

If it opens on the 13th this year, my list is going to look like this:    Washington hunt

And the two years to follow as well since those openers would then be on the 12th and 11th.

I posted a bunch of the season setting process proposals in the Washington Agencies forum here:

just scroll to the next page of threads...

Thanks!   I looked through them and I didn't see anything about late deer seasons and units for archery.  Last time around they tried to take all the 200 units out of late general and make them permit hunts.  It doesn' t look like they are revisting that at this time.

I must be missing something. What is it that you're looking at?

It can't open on the 20th, that would make the westside deer season too short. It always goes to the 31st. I'm positive it will open on the 13th.

Last 3 year season setting, the game department proposed closing the late archery deer season in several of the '200' units and giving our permits instead.  Thereby cramming even more archers into the few '300' units that have a late season.   Enough pressure eventually got them to change that proposal.   I was wondering if it would pop up again this year.  In all of the post that have been started here about thise years proposal.  I didn't see anything like that being proposed.

I was just confused as to what NWWABOWHNTR had posted. I understand now. I think he meant to post a link but forgot to. I'll try to find what it is that he was referring to....

It came up in preliminary discussions but never made it to the list of critical issues.  Because of the cuts they could only look at a few changes and if it wasn't deemed critical it got set aside.  I was told that they will keep there eye on it and if they have to they can still do a closure next year if the buck numbers get to low.  There is still a push to close all of the 200's for late archery to decrease pressure on those deer and a push to open more of the 200's for late archery to spread hunting pressure out.  Whatever side you are on it is important to keep making your voice heard.

As long as it is open people will push for it to be closed and the people that are hunting it will just assume it is going to stay open.  The WDFW will hear only from the people wanting to close it and they will.  And once it closes it will be nearly impossible to get it back just like so many things they have limited or closed.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.
