Dry Winter
« on: January 02, 2012, 03:10:21 PM »
Seems pretty moderate here.  We could really use the snow.  The sled guys are getting itchy thumbs here also.

Easy on the game, they are still spread out. Makes thee wolves work harder.

So far a warm brown winter here where I live in MT. The deer are laying around like it's summer

Yep real mild this year so far. I think the snow will come and hopefully be shed hunting on normal ground this year.

We're only 2 weeks into winter, got 11 weeks to go. Seems like last year the mountains got lots of snow even in April and May, if I'm remembering correctly.

Yeah you are right, in April there was still lots of snow up high by where I was shed hunting.

Just more reasons for WDFW to add more wolves to the picture!  Not give out a few more tags...  :bash: :bash: :bash:
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

I see that Bluewood only has 25" of snow, and that's at 4800' elevation.

I'm sure they wil give out fewer tag as a result but I don't think there will be a reason for it  :twocents: The end result of this winter will be lack of good feed in the spring! now if thats coupled with a hard and early winter next fall Then we are going to have serious problems  :twocents:

Timing and quantity of spring/early summer rain has a lot more affect on quantity and quality of grass than winter snowpack.
