Back in July, WFW sent a list of questions to both gubernatorial candidates and they have not responded. I doubt it's likely to happen. All we have to go on their voting record and what we know about them with regards to hunting.

Rep. Inslee has received an "F" grade from the NRA for 2nd Amendment. Rob McKenna is a sportsman and is probably the candidate who will best represent us in Olympia. Remember it's the Governor who appoints the Commissioners for the Wildlife Commission. I would personally find it unlikely that someone who's received and "F" from the NRA will be making wildlife decisions with the best interest of us hunters in mind.

You likely won't receive  a response from McKenna until we get closer to the primary election.  Most candidates want to think through their positions, especially their positions that they are unfamiliar with, until they have a better idea of how they want to present their opinions.  Most campaign coaching will advise against strong defined opinions on issues that are outside their messaging.  This goes doubly for strong issues such as these you have asked him about.  I would follow up with both sometime this spring and let him know that neither candidate has responded to your original request.  I am a McKenna supporter and have spent time with both candidates in various presentations, and think McKenna is the best chance we have had at putting something other than a democrat in the Governor's seat over the last 30 years.  I would consider him a moderate republican with no baggage that has showed up yet.  Insless is a fairly liberal democrat and has his voting record in D.C. to follow him around as baggage.

McKenna is all for gun rights and supporting hunting and fishing.  He needs to be our next governor!

Anyone else who has personal knowledge of the candidates' stances on hunting and 2nd Amendment issues should please contribute to this thread.

My best friend has been good friends with McKenna and his family for many years.  He was at our house all this past weekend and we discussed McKenna at length.  Let's just say that of all the politicians in this state, McKenna is the one you want elected Governor if you care deeply about gun, hunting and fishing rights.

Lets play a what if we were in his shoes scenerio...
Why would Rob make a statement or a big deal about being pro hunting? What is the up side? Well we all know he supports the second admendment. The other person is a left wing eco freak.  Would Rob gain abunch of votes by speaking up? Likely NO. I am going to vote fore him no matter what. Could speaking up hurt him? YES there are lots of Greater Seattle area folks who don't hunt or even think about it that may vote for him... Why would Rob bring up a subject that unites people behind his opponet instead of him? He need to focus on spending and jobs. THAT will resonate with nearly all people in this state.  :twocents:
I don't like it, I wish he would/could stand up and say "We need to embrace the culture and habits of the past that made us great like hunting and outdoorsmanship!" but it aint gona happen...
In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

Jay Inslee voted for the 1994 Assault Weapons ban.  Prior to this, when he ran for election, he said that he was pro-gun, I heard it from his mouth when he ran.  Jay Inslee lied.  That it why he lost his job in Eastern Washington and headed over to Western Washington to find a more suitable place for his unconstitutional thinking.

Thanks for that, Kain. It's pretty clear what choice I need to make for myself. With Inslee receiving an F from the NRA, Rob is my only candidate.

I've met Rob a few times. I didn't exactly go through an exposee on the minutae of his 2A views but I have confidence that theres no better realistic candidate for governor for Washington state. This is coming from a forum member who moved out of  Washington with the political landscape being at least a partial factor.

A bit off topic but I also like McKenna for his position on (against) ObamaCare!

It is not off topic, but rather spot on  it means he has a backbone. Just recall how Gregoire bitched her dragon head of f to the media when he joined the lawsuit against Obamacare. That proved that he stands up for what he thinks is right.

It looks like she's wishing him happy birthday or something like that. :chuckle:
