Comparison Matrix.... shows what WDFW recommended and What the Commission actually Accepted. Although it is much improved from the original, I am still of the opinion that 15 BPs is too many. At least we can begin down-listing sooner and begin the de-listing program before the 3 year waiting period is complete. I was told that Hunting would be the management plan after de-listing.

I think we need to forget the discussions about the plan because it's a done deal. I think we need to push hard for confirmation of wolves.

2 problems, and I know you're aware of both.  Problem #1, no way for the state to verify current or future number of BPs, so no REAL light at the end of the tunnel.  Problem #2, if we ever do figure out that there are 15 verifiable BPs, and we do get through all the years of litigation, hunting will not be nearly effective enough to control wolf numbers.

That is exactly the right focus Dale. I had a long talk with Nate Pamplin this morning and he is asking, no in fact almost demanding that folks quit talking and start calling the hotline so they can get these sightings confirmed. He had not heard of the 13 seen in the Teanaway area and he states that they still only have the five packs and 27 total wolves. He says they really do need our help.... I know..... credibility... but maybe he is serious.

I won't go into detail but Nate indicated he wanted to re-address an earlier offer of assistance. (WDFW) pretty much turned their noses up at it when first offered) I contacted the Bio and he is going to call Nate. We will be looking at this very closely too.
