I just want to report that I received the camera today and it is the "new" 2011 model, which I can tell from the packaging which says on the front- "New & Improved Up to 200% Longer Battery Life" and "Zero Photo Capture Noise".

My concern was that I would end up with one of the 2010 models which had the "clunk" sound every time it took a picture.

I'll try to get it out in the woods tomorrow to test it out.

Sweet! Guinea pig time. If you get pics of deer not looking at the camera I'll pick another one up after the Christmas spending has settled down.

I see Cabelas now has the same camera on sale for $99.99. (and Wal Mart is still sold out)

I might have to pick up another one from Cabelas after Christmas, if they still have it at that price.

Well I'm going to bring this one back up to the top. I have some info to report but I already typed it all out on another board so I'll just provide a link to that thread and if anyone is interested you can go over there and read it (yes, I was unfaithful to this board, sorry!).

I posted about it over on Chasingame because I was having problems and knowing there were some people over there with experience with the same camera I thought I might get some help. Turns out I just got a lemon. I've got a new one now from Cabelas and will be trying it out this weekend, and will see if it does any better.

Here's a link to the other thread:

Oh, I'm "bdan68" over there. There was already a "bobcat" over there. In fact he posted once in my thread and when I first started reading his post I was thinking I was reading my own post, until I realized I didn't say that.    :chuckle: :bash:

At least you had a few pics I had over 30 pics out of 240 that were pitch black.  0 night pics.  Tried it at home and it worked fine.  Haven't used it since.  I need to go set it up.....

Yes, I did get a few pictures. I think it was 837 in the first 6 days, and then around 450 the next 7 days.

Well, the new one from Cabelas isn't working properly either. I got 565 pictures in three days, so it does take pictures! But, for the daytime pictures it alternates between using the IR and not using it. So one set of pictures is black and white, and the next set is color, and so on. Or it will just stay in IR mode when there should be enough light to take pictures without it. The black and white pictures are clear and acceptable, but the color pictures are way too dark.

I left the camera out there, to try for another week, but I'm pretty sure this one will be going back to Cabelas. I'm not sure what to do now. Don't know if I should exchange it for another one, or maybe get a Moultrie instead.

Here are a couple of pictures that were taken less than 1 minute apart:

Ready for this thread to take off?  I have two Primos 46 cams and love them.  Although the price is great at Wal-Mart,  I will not be purchasing new cams or anything else from that retailer.  I am not a fan of Wal-Mart at all.  I think that the business model they follow is bad for the country in general.  And for the few cents you save on the items you purchase from the corporate giant you help support the executives in Arkansas.  While you also subsidize the medical benefits of its workers through the taxes you pay.  Just my opinion.  I will buy local for my next trail cam purchase.  Thanks.

I have no problem with Wal Mart. In fact I was going to post on here how impressed I was with how painless it was for me returning that camera the other day. I walked into the Tumwater Wal Mart, told the lady at the counter I'd like a refund because the camera didn't work properly. She gave me a refund in cash, no questions asked. All she said was "sorry it didn't work". Remember, I didn't even purchase this at the store. I bought it from Wal Mart online and it was shipped directly to my house. What great service. It couldn't have been more than 5 minutes for me to get in the store and back out with my refund. Cabelas has nothing on Wal Mart!

Now as for the new Primos 46 I got from Cabelas, I checked it today, after a 4 day soak, and it seems to be working fine. I had turned the camera so it was not facing open sky. I got 965 pictures in 4 days, and not one of them is in color, so they were all taken with the IR flash.

:yeah: you can return anything to them! I mean anything! I get a new vacume every other month, when the bag gets full and it turns off I take it back and get a new one  :chuckle: :chuckle:

Here's a picture from the current setup. It's on the same tree as it was previously, but facing west instead of north.

The only problem I see now is the deer are actually too close, in many of the pictures. I think I'll go back out there this weekend and change the camera from the full 45 LED's to the optional 25 (for the IR flash).
