Shots that drop em!

So other than the obvious head and spine shots, what are some of your favorite shot placements for droppin deer?


Mine is the double lung right behind the crease of the shoulder.

Just above the front leg.....Used a soft tip ammo, he did a 360 and dropped, didn't ruin the meat nor his leg..After cleaning him the bullet mushroomed up, and severed his throat.

You say shot that drop em and you say what I like to do which is the double lung shot.  But doesn't always drop them in their tracks.  They run off, bleed out and die a little bit away.  But little to no meat damage.  My dad and I go round and round about this.  He is all about front shoulder because it will drop them in their tracks even if they are dead, but I say there is a good bit a meat damage there so I go behind the front shoulder looking for double lung and maybe some heart.

No need to waste the front shoulders.  Just shoot em in the lungs and be ready to track for a little bit if necessary..........sometimes they do drop right on the spot, but a lot of times they run off a ways, but at least you will bet all the meat.

I didn't mean drop them literally! Kill em is what i meant. Favorite kill shot is what I was getting at. Shoulder shot doesn't drop em every time either! Shattered the front shoulder in my buck this year and he went 200 yards on a dead run before he died 3 legged of course but he didn't drop.

I have been hearing a lot about that shot. Hits this spine doesn't it? Or at least cavitates it. Thinkin about tryin it next year.

I know this is not a high percentage shot because if you miss the neck bone you could wound the animal BUT If you can make this shot for one it will drop like a rock and for 2 you hardly ever waste much meat !!! I hit a bull with my bow once in that exact same spot and it dropped right now !!
