Depends on the distance if I am within 40-50 yards neck shot 100 or over heart/lung shot.

I have had very good luck WIth high shoulder shot. Aim for the shoulder blade. Killed a deer and elk with that shot this year. Both archery. And have killed other deer that way also. Not great for blood.trails but they don't go far with lungs full of blood. My spike this year went 30 yards after an arrow through shoulder blade. Deer went 60-70 almost same shot.. I always try and stay at the crease or.forward.

While I dont reccomend the shoulder blade(scapula) shot for archery, with a gun it will nearly always drop them on the spot, partly because from broadside two thirds of the scapula lays right in front of spinal bone. There's a nerve plex that lies under the scapula, so often it knocks them out or down if hit broadside or quartering towards, even if it misses the spine. It usually gets lungs as well. Most folks refer to this as the "high shoulder shot" look at skeletal or anatomical drawings until you know where the scapula lies... I dont use this shot for long shots, or angles like quartering away, but with broadside or quartering towards, if you dont want to track them its the ticket.. and yes it usually destroys more meat than a behind the shoulder rib shot, and doesn't have as much margin for error.

When I used to hunt with a rifle, I killed probably half my deer with a neck shot. Never once had one go anywhere at all but down.

I've dropped my share in their tracks/beds but my preferred shot is just behind the front shoulder. If you're right on you hit top of heart and lungs. If you're high you hit top of lungs and spine. If you're low you hit heart.

Aim for the > created by the scapula and the leg.  Put it right in the middle, behind the front of the >.  This will be right in the boiler room in the lower lungs and they will fall over within seconds, archery or rifle.

Never heard of intentionally aiming for the shoulder blade with a bow, I try to stay away from that area with my bow, with a gun thats right where I aim pretty much no matter what I'm hunting, unless its a doe antelope or deer, I shoot a 300 weatherby with 180 barnes I'd say its usually 50/50 on the animal dropping in its tracks, they never go far though. The bear in my avatar dropped and proceeded to tumble 150 yards down a rock slide... bad karma on my end I guess.

Most guys shoot too high on bear as it is.  I would have severe reservations about asking a client to try that.  Top of the heart is the only bear shot I recommend.  If your gun is large enough and you can get to the heart through the shoulder/leg that's perfect.  But even the 243WIN does a spectacular job behind the leg into the off shoulder.  Concentating on where you want the bullet to exit makes it much easier to aim correctly on most animal.  Especially bear.
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."
