Based on your first few post.....it is obvious you want someone to tell you where to kill your elk / deer / etc...etc.  I am not saying this to be nasty, but really???  Start buy saying hi and telling us about yourself.  Maybe give some pics of a hunt.  Stop begging for information and using "first cow"  "Can I hunt on your land?"  "tell me about an area" as a reason to beg for information.

Don't know where these places are, but if you read his first three post he states he got drawn for a cow tag, is asking or permission to hunt private property and now is asking about a general location.

I am assuming he is looking for information concerning to elk hunting.  Again I don't know this cuase I don't know where this area is and don't know if there are elk there??

Elk may pass through there very rarely. He talking about lower monumental dam on the snake river. I've deer hunted before but way too many guys hunt it for deer. When youre sitting on a hill side and bullets are hittingthe dirt above you it doesn't make you want to go back.

This has nothing to do with protecting my area....Heck I didn't even know where it was.   However when I got on today and read three post by Michael....1.  who knows this area I drew a cow elk tag?  2.  Can I hunt on someones private propert....3. Who is familiar with this area??  It just kind of got to me.

Again this is nothing personal.  I just don't understand.  This is probably more my problem than it is anyone elses because I just don't agree with a few things.

1.  Don't put in for a draw that you are unfamiliar with the area....unless you are willing to put in the work to learn it.  Learning an area doesn't consist of posting on this forum soley.
2.  Asking to hunt private property on a board where you have 3 post.  I would never ask to hunt private party via a forum...maybe a pm but would prefer a phone call or face to face.  I think it is the right thing to do.  (again my opinion)

Again these are just my beliefes.....I hope Michael has all the luck in the world and hope people help him.  Maybe I need to be more forward with my asking strangers to help me harvest animals, maybe my elk harvest stats would increase.

Overall I was just trying to give food for thought.  I thought if Michael told us about himself we (the individuals on this forum) would be more likely to help him.

John

Why would someone ask to hunt private property on hunting site? Anyone that has property is gonna hunt it them selves, not let a stranger hunt it.. j rebel I agree with your last post.

Ok before everyone gets their a$$es all sore lets back up a few and look at this from the outside!  I just took a minute to look at the posts jrebel is talking about. The conclusion I come up with is this is a younger man new to the sport, took it up on his own with no guidence that we take for granted  :dunno: I say before we jump this guys crap lets hear him out a bit more  :twocents: I'm not by any means condoning the every year onslought of hit and run info seekers! But a guy possibly kid has to start somewhere! as for the private property, is the area he's talking about mostly private  :dunno: I was taught as a kid, you don't know till you ask  ;)

Quote== im a new member and this is my first post. well i drew a blue creek muzzloader cow tag and i was wondering if anybody knew where i should go. or if there is anybody that wouldent mind me getting permission to hunt their land. this will be my first elk. Pulled from the youth board

Sounds to me like he should go on the WDFW site and look at the "Hunt Washington" link. The map feature would point him to public land, units, ect...... He could also get on the Huting GPS Maps site and order up the PLAT map setup for Washington with the land ownership marked. From there he would pretty well have it all layed out as far as land access. Then its just figuring out where you can hunt that has elk to hunt. :)

Lomo is in the desert, only trees were planted by some poor sole not small enough to fit under sagebrush.  Rainfall is often single digit there, some of the locals brag that is per decade.  Mule deer are quite happy close by but elk are a few times in a life occurance.  Blue creek is snuggled up against the Mill creek watershed area.  Elk, mule, whitetail, turkeys, bears, bobcats, cougars and now wolves frequent the area.  Moose and bighorns come by from time to time and it rains more than 40 inches (per year not decade) at the higher elevations.  Walla Walla county is the base for both on the east side of Snake river.  It is more than a hours drive, several more if your 4 wheel drive is stuck in that powder that passes for soil on top of the breaks near the dam and if you then run to the top of Blacksnake in the Bluecreek area you could very will need chains for all four wheels for the mud.  One more thing, if it freezes and snows while you are stuck in that mud plan to retrieve your rig in the spring.
