Glock 20 10mm Auto

So I'm thinkin my next pistol purchase is going to be a 10mm.  I'm leaning towards the Glock 20 because it seems to be the most affordable one.  They have two G20's listed on their website, the 20 and the 20sf.  I guess the "sf" stands for short frame and has a smaller grip than the 20. Do any of you guys have either of these two models? If so, do you like them/hate them? Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks

Is the difference between these two grips that noticable?  I guess the grip on the 20 feels pretty blocky to a lot of people.  I havnt had the chance to hold either of these models yet.

I have the glock 30 double stack. The grip feels so natural and it fits in my pockets. I love it! Glock just knows how things should fit. I'll be you like either choice you make.

Ing- I've never held the regular model, the sf felt so good I didn't even thinking about the regular model.

I had to look it up but you are right about sf standing for short frame, i would reccomend it cause mine is the regular g20 and i could go for the grip being a hair smaller

They are not that pricey to shoot, outdoor imporum in seattle sells a box of fifty for $17 a box

If you reload them its only around $8 a box

Btw if you do get one or any other glock take it to sams gun club and they will do a trigger job for $20 that will take the trigger pull down to about three and a half lbs

I have a gen2 20 and  a friend had a SF gen3 20. I honestly couldnt really feel much of a difference. Im not a really big guy and the standard frame works fine for me. I love that thing, in fact I love it so much I bought its little brother, a G29. Got a standard frame there too and it feels just fine. Dont get me wrong its a handfull but shooting it isnt a problem.

 I had a Glock 20. I put a KKM six inch barrel in it to shoot heaver hand loads. Dropped in a 3.5lb connector and competition trigger bar to make the trigger better. It was a very accurate pistol. I miss it.

I've had several of the standard frame 20's. I now have a SF 20. It is a bit smaller and more controllable for me.
I've shot 2-3000 rounds out of them, makes a very nice hiking/ hunting companion side arm.

I've had both the 20 and the 29, and the SF version is worth getting. The grip reduction doesn't look like much but it does make a big difference. The SF wasn't around when I had my Glocks, so I ended up selling both of them because they just didn't fit that well, which made it difficult for me to shoot them accurately. If you're a reloader, the Glock is pretty hard on your brass as well unless you put in an aftermarket barrel.

There are other 10mm autos out there which I feel are better guns. The Dan Wesson CCBT was my favorite, but the Kimber Eclipse, EAA Witness, and Colt Delta Elite are all nice as well. There are options out there other than Glock, so be sure to look around.

The Witness has some good qualities, it's price point being one of them. It's also the only all steel 10mm I know of for under $750 bucks. The recoil from a Glock 20 with full power ammo is pretty snappy. More than I think most people are willing to deal with. The same load in an all steel gun is much more manageable.

If you shop around you can get some pretty good deals. I sold my Dan Wesson CCBT for $800, and I bought my Kimber Eclipse for $600 used. It just takes some looking.

10mm is .40 It's kinda like a .40 mag ish type deal. I really wanted one but I don't handload and most of the manufacturers don't like to do a full load 10mm. It's a mean amount of power.

A full power 10 mm should throw 180s at more than 1250 fps. Most readily available factory ammo is considerably slower.

A 9mm is .355-.356"

Glock 20s are awesome, loaded up hot they have the same ballistics as a 41 mag with 15 rounds.

If you're getting 41 mag ballistics from a 10mm, your loads are way to hot! With a 41 my I was getting 250gr bullets at 1250 from a 4" barrel. If you push a 10 mm that hard you're in big trouble!

Look at your ballistics again, a full load 10mm is damn close to a mid range .41

In the hornady manual the max load in a 6" 41 with a 210 grn bullet pushes at 1400ish which is smokin.

the max load from a 5" 10mm is a 200 grn bullet at 1150.

They are similar but not exactly equal. Im in the mid 1200's in my G20 with 200 grn xtp's and high 1100s in my 29.

My 41 is right at 1400.

Personally 15 rounds at 1250 fps gets the nod from me for a woods gun. Plus a Glock being a Glock I dont worry about getting it dirty or wet. I love the 10, its just oozing with coolness.

Thats what I'm getting at, my handloads in my Glock 20 are the same as yours, 200xtp at 1235 (average), thats hot but not over max. Compare that to over the counter .41 mag, NOT handloads. They are virtually the same.
10mm is about the coolest round out there.

Never shot factory 41s. Have shot some cheap factory 10s though and those week sobs barely got 1000 fps with 180s. May as well shoot a 40.

I had 2 Glock 10mms a 29 and a 20.. Factory loads the recoil seemed like a .40 then I shot some hand loads my friend loaded up. DEAR GOD! those things at .5 gr below max load are ridiculous. I have massive hands and that little 29 was damn near impossible to hang on to when shooting failure drills. had to put grip tape on the *censored* to keep it from wriggling out of my hands..

It's no more dangerous than trying a new bullet and not ensuring a good OAL before you throw it in the pipe and pull the trigger.

Just buy the Lonewolf .40 cal conversion barrel for 100 bucks and be done with it. Dont mess with loading them long...

Yep.  I'm not saying that anyone should do it themselves.  Just that it can be done.  Hell, almost anything can be done but that does not mean I would recommend anything

Well, since I have a custom STI in .40 that the ammo has to be loaded long for, I have an abundance of ammo that works in my G20.
