It's Finally Here!
« on: January 06, 2012, 10:56:26 PM »
After waiting for nearly 5 months, my first pistol is finally here.

I spent about 3 months trying to figure out what my first pistol would ever be. I've researched, read a lot of posts on here that other guys have put information on, read the reviews online, went to the Marksmen Pistol Range and tried out a bunch of pistols... and when I held it, shot it, and saw the results I knew it had to be this:

Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their enemies in the gate. - Psalm 127:3-5

Super excited.

Just wish my hunting buddy was home from his deployment to go to the range with me.

Anyone out there with a 1911 .45 ACP that has suggestions on extras that would go nice with this gun? Bullets to use? Laser options? Etc.

A pile of 230gr ball/FMJ's and your good to go, any issues with stoves pipping, failure  to feed or failure to eject. Change the factory spring out for a heavier one. Dont freak out and throw it down range. 90% of the time with a 1911 and such issues. It's the spring, there are several guys locally that got smoking deals on 1911's that I had enough of and just about gave them away.

Then one day while resisting the urge to throw my 2nd Para Ordnance GI Expert down range. A friend handed me a heavier spring out of his 1911 and things were all better, it was sunny out, the birds were singing and I no longer wanted to throw my handgun or choke the crap out of a Oprah doll.

If you reload, you can load about 200 rds. for what 50 cost ya in the store... lazer cast bullets are awesome for low velocity target loads...

For carry loads I have always loved Cor bon or Federal ammo...  Always fed well.  Never stove piped.  Was accurate enough at even 15 yds to put 2 in the chest, 1 to the head on bad guy targets.
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

Agree...get a good holster or two.  A Milt Sparks Versa Max II Holster IWB 1911 is a good choice.  Have to get on a waiting list, but like waiting for that nice 1911 you got, it's worth the wait.  That is unless you want to get it now and pay more off of Ebay.

Yeah, I tried out a couple Kimbers at the pistol range. Oohh, sweet guns! But the price was just too much for this time around. One day, though - definitely will own a Kimber.

As far as options go, the possibilities are endless darn near. Lazer options are a little harder without a rail but there are still options regardless.  I would go with the crimson trace grips if you want a lazer.  :twocents:
