Caring for coyote pelts?

So, as I eagerly await the start of Coyote Madness V, I've decided that I'd like to keep the fur from any nice looking coyotes and get them tanned to make a blanket or something. Maybe a coat lol. Anywho... it seems much smarter to wait until I have several so I can ship them to the tannery at one time, instead of one by one. What's the best way of keeping the hides from rotting until I ship them? I don't plan on keeping the heads or feet... I just basically want tanned coyote bodies, so I know I don't need to worry about splitting lips and stuff like that, but other than that

Skin and roll them up fur out and freeze them

I might need a bigger freezer! What would I do when I have enough to ship? Wouldn't they thaw out in transit?

You might want to freeze them and then flesh them out and stick them on some stretchers when you get a bunch.Some places like Molson's tan them out in what ever condition you send them in.

Edit: Molson's will take them in whatever condition you send them in fleshed, so if you don't do a good job of fleshing ,oh well

I don't know of any tanneries that take raw frozen hides. You will need to learn how to flesh,stretch, and dry the hides properly. If you can find a trapper or caller that puts up fur that would be a great start.

I just started saving my coyote hides and elk hide to send in. It costs 23.50 for 1 and 22.50 each if you have more than one and the cost goes down the more you have. You have to flesh and salt the hides or air dry them. coyotes are easy to dry and salt. I'm trying to salt a elk hide out side right now. Its hard with all to moisture in the air. lol I have use 75lbs of salt lol but it is pulling the moisture so slow. I wish I had a garage to salt hides and salt them. I was thinking if self storage but they mite not like the smell.
