Fuel burn in the new boat

Finally got some numbers for the new boat.

The Yamaha F300 is proving to be pretty fuel efficient. Its burning less than I thought it would.

3500 rpm is about 24 mph at about 10 gph.

4500 rpm is about 32 mph at about 13 gph

5500 rpm is about 44 mph at about 26 gph.

How did you get the numbers? I am thinking of putting a flow meter on my yammy 150. those are good #'s, especially for a boat that size

Its interesting,the new F300 is burning almost exactly twice what the F150 on my 20' Seahawk did.

Where are you breaking the new boat in at?   Are you testing with what is close to being in the boat during trips, weight wize?  Just curious..

We ran it on Lake Wa. It was a good testing day. It started off with a stiff breeze and some good chop. The wind died down later on and we ran some speed numbers as well.

The boat was loaded with gear except for tackle and rods. Normally fish 3 guys and sometimes a 4th. This load we ran with 5 guys to simulate the tackle and rods we didn't have on board. Ran with a full tank as well (130 gallons).

Not too bad of a burn rate then for that size of motor.  I always go to the Wooldridge pages where they do the testing of X motors and get an idea of how much is actually used, as most of the manufactures aren't really close.  What is the weight of the new boat?
