I hear a lot of skybuster bad mouthing.  It usually goes something like this:

Birds are circling into the decoys, they’re wary but they’re getting closer, …. closer …. almost there!  Then boom, boom, boom , someone shoots and they flare off, never to be seen again.

The shots weren’t real close by but close enough to scare the birds.  No way of telling what the shooters were shooting at or how far their targets were from them, or if they actually killed some birds, but it is usually assumed that they were skybusting.  After all they ruined your opportunity didn’t they?

But then when you shoot, whose birds are you scaring away?

If you’re dropping birds it isn’t skybusting!  If they don’t drop, they might be out of range, or you might have just missed.

I’ve missed birds before.  I’ve even shot at birds that were out of range on occasion.  I bet that everyone on this board has as well.

I'm talk in about people that shoot at birds that they likely won't kill or are out of range, where you can actually see it happen in a neighboring blind! And yeah it bs! And no I don't do it! If it's not in range I dont shoot! Period! I may miss or make a wounding shot, but at least I'll be able to finish the bird and get my dog on it! Sky busting is for people that don't know how to hunt waterfowl ethically in my opinion! That's like people taking 100 yard shots at big game with a bow! Will your arrow travel that far? Yes, will it make an effective kill shot? Prob not most of the the time!
What would life be without the thrill of the hunt?

Thats where  proper mentorship is a must.  Some of these guys that do nothing than skybust probaly dont know any better, and unfortunaly they meet each other on Skybuster.com, and then in turn teach there children the same ethics.  I dont think I have ever once hunted public land and not have had to deal with that.  Its very annoying, and I have had to move spots several times.  It sucks yes, but it sure beats sitting at home on the couch.
