Sig Sauer 1911-22
« on: January 08, 2012, 11:25:23 AM »
Who has one and what do you think.  Bought this one a few weeks ago and haven't shot it yet.  Can't wait to get to the range next week.

It is surprisingly inexpensive.  I bought my at wholesale sports in lacey and I paid $349.99.  Got 20% off buy ripping the coupon out of the migratory bird pamphlet.  Then they gave me $25 gift card to spend in January.  They were awsome to buy from.  You also get to choose from 3 different colors.  Desert camo brown (pictured), Dark Green, or standard blued.  The converson kit for my kimber would have cost me more....so I couldn't pass it up.

I am very interested to read your review on this.
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

OK....Finally took this gun for a test drive.

Here is the review for those interested:

Target was 40' away.  Rest was off a bench with gun steadied on sand bag.  Ammo was the cheapest I can buy...nothing special just whatever was on sale (this was ammo I had accumulated over the years that is kept in an old peanut butter container  :chuckle:)

Results:

Good

1.  This gun far exceeded my expectations for accuracy.  I forgot my camera at home so I will update with pictures after next trip.  Shooting a 10 round magazine I was holding 2" groups with 8 out of 10 shots.  The fliers were were never to far off and was probably a result of the shooter or the cheap ammo.

2.  I put approx 200 rounds down range and only had one stovepipe.  Other than that It cycled flawless.

3. Sights are easy to adjust for purposes of sighting the gun in.

4.  Feels wonderful in hands......Absolutely love the 1911 frame.

5.  It was the talk of the gun range.  Everyone in attendance was extremely impressed with performance.

Bad

1.  The trigger is a little stiff.....I have shot worse, but would prefer a lighter trigger.

2.  The sights though easy to adjust and easy to see are kinda cheap.  I really wish it had a more quality sight.  I will be shopping so see If I can find a better sight.  They are plastic and I would prefer metal.

3.  Cost for additional mags is high $40 and I can only find 10 round mags.  Would be nice to have a 15 round mag.

Overall I am extremely pleased and would recommend this gun to anyone.  It shoots as well as my old ruger mkIII ever did.  This is going to be a grouse killing machine.

If you don't want to pay for the Sig-Sauer name, or can't find one, just get the GSG, imported by ATI.  Same gun, lower cost.
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"

I had to order one, Fed Way Discount can't keep them in stock.  They have the best price from the places I called ($359.00), and extra mags are $32.00.  The GSG marked model is $30.00 less.
Nothing witty here.... move along.
