anyone catching walleye yet?
« on: January 08, 2012, 06:43:11 PM »
Nows the time to get the dandys. I've been seeing boats out but don't know how good they're doing. I've never fished walleye this time of year. I usually wait till June. But maybe I need to get a boat out there and try.

I don't have a boat so I only go when invited by my friend who is a fishing nut.  Has to be my all time favorite fresh water fish to eat....LOVE THEM.

Yes they are delicious! I'm like I said I'm new to trying to fish for them this time of year but I know where guys get them. Trying to get my buddy to take his boat out.

Where about do you guys live.  I have fished them in the columbia and banks lake.  We did really well in the late spring and early summer.

This time of year until early summer/post spawn, we've always had the best luck trolling a single nightcrawler looped a couple times on a single hook with a green or red bead covering the knot on the hook.  That's it.  And go as slow as your trolling/kicker can take you.  You want 1 or 2 splitshots about 18" above the rig.  They bite light so, be prepared to let out a little line when they hit.

Good luck out there and let us know how you do. I'm itchin for some walleye, just ate my last pack of fillets over Christmas break.
I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I'm not!

Nope not me..like blue bulls said no walleyes in the Columbia.  I have caught a few this fall.  Winter fishing is kicking my but up north.  I will be out the next few weeks blade baiting on Rufus, Banks and Roosevelt.
