Hole in waders Updated
« on: January 09, 2012, 05:56:47 PM »
I sat down on a floating marsh were water comes up and  :o wet. Once I got home I looked at my waters and there was a small hole in it. Is there a special way to fix a hole in your waders? They are neoprene. Help!!! My mom can sew.

I always fix my wader holes with neoprene wader fix. Its crazy strong and dries quick, you can pick it up at a outdoor store or online.

Shoe goo but only if you use fabric patches in/out. Otherwise, Auquaseal...

Always worked for me in the past

Shoe goo will work, but only for a short while then it will leak again.  Use aquaseal and do it right the first time

aquaseal

I second the aquaseal.  I have used many tubes of this to fix my waders over the years.  Make sure it is dry.  Stretch the hole and fill it in.  Let it dry and you will be good to go.

3M 5200 works well for any water tight applications (wood, rubber, neoprene, fiberglass etc...) I always have a tube around the house.

When I was Scuba Diving, I had a neoprene drysuit.  When the seams started to seep, I coated the seam with "Tool Dip".  Stayed flexible, and sealed the leak.  The stuff came in colors and black at the time.  There was even an aerosol can version of it, too.  It sealed puncture holes from barnacles, but they were sometimes hard to find.
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

Well I went to Cabela's in Post Falls ID. I picked up some aquaseal, and a couple other things  :chuckle: I sealed my waters up and was ready to go to the PO river for my first time. I was looking at this place on google earth to walk into (I only had a float tube to retrieve my dekes). I found what I thought was a place so I drove all the way from Spokane to Usk just to find out that, ya it was a spot, but no I could not hunt it. NO TRESPASSING.   :yike: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash:  :'( I got told that if I was gonna hunt the river, I needed my boat (350 miles away)

So, I never did find out if my waders are waterproof  :dunno: :chuckle:

Dang wish I had my license. I got a boat and it needs to get used. :chuckle: Yeah most of the bank is all private so u do need a boat. I know of a pretty good spot that someone took me to a couple times a few years ago. The cool thing about that was his family has a place on the river 100 yards from it so a quick boat ride and we were there.
