Question on why do people buy a new bow every year?
« on: January 09, 2012, 09:47:45 PM »
I have bow hunted for 20 years and I see these people who almost every year buy a new bow, I dont get it. I guess if you have more money than you know what to do with. I personally buy a bow and like to keep it for awhile, get use to it and be super comfortable, much like a rifle and I never hear about guys buying a rifle every year to hunt. A bow u bought 3 years ago is hardly any different than todays..granted if you own a bow from the 90's yes there are some added benefits and weight and speed. I can think of 100 other items I could purchase every hunting season with $800 price tag on the high end bows.. Just curious to those who do this

Don't do it every year, but try to about every 3 years.  Other than the fact that Bowhunting is my passion, I couldn't give you a good reason.  I am selling a DXT this year that I paid $1400 two years ago fully loaded.  I will be lucky to get $750 out of it with arrows this year.  I thinkk to myself every time I do this.....what the hell am I doing????  But I just can't stop myself.  Everyone has to have their poison and I guess bowhunting is mine.

But for those looking Bowtechs new bow will be revealed in about 8hrs

I do those things too....but I Don't drink, smoke, eat out at restaraunts often, travel (vacations), etc......I spend a fairly large amount of money on hunting each year.  I really don't do anything else.  And I already have most of the stuff you mention so don't need to spend on that stuff anymore.

I buy a bunch of bows every year. Most of them I find good deals on and turn around and flip them.  I think I have 13 right now. As far as a brand new bow every year, I don't even come close to that. Most the time My hunting bows stay my number 1 bow for around 3 years. If I found a better shooting bow each year out of all the bows I shoot. I would buy one every year. They have to feel better and shoot better then what I already have. I still have not found anything better for me then my x force.

Always think about trading up, but as with my favorite shotgun I probably won't.  Have been shooting the same Darton since 1995 and it has killed an elk, deer or hog just about every year since.   Kinda like my woman, just gets better with age.

I have had quite a few bows. I was buying a new bow every year for a few years until 2009. I liked most of the bows I have had and bows I have shot I ended up back with my 2006 Bowtech Allegiance. I like how it shoots and the way it feels in my hand. Might end up keeping it for a few more years.  :chuckle:

I bought a new bow every 2 or 3 years just because I had to have the latest, coolest thing on the market and I had $$$ burning holes in my pockets., Then I got married and started having kids. I've had my current bow for 3 years and will probably keep it for another 3 to 5.

I bought a new bow this year and hope to get many, many years out of it.  I used my cheapo Parker for 8 years before I finally upgraded.  As long it kills deer its doing its job.  Even if I had the money I couldn't see buying one every year.

me neither.. I could buy one every year. I love my dream season and dont see the need to do that.  I see lotta guys in the archery shops who pretend to hunt and buy every gadget on the market and I guess it makes them feel like a hunter  :chuckle:

I agree with you there shane. I can take one look at a persons bow and know what kind of bow hunter they are :chuckle: A lot of guys are into self image and think they have to have the best most expensive stuff out there to be able to look like a great hunter and shooter.
