anyone carry a video camera?

While I'm out hunting I try to always have a video camera on me. That way when I see a big buck while coyote hunting I can see him over and over at home. Haha. Works great for scouting too. I've Tryed video taping the actual hunt and realized its very hard to do alone with a cheap camera.

Oh yea... I've got a "prosumer" Canon, I don't use so much. Hauling the nearly "full size" camera, tripod sound equipment and other gear makes hunting a little difficult.
Recently I bought a tiny Canon HD. I haven't got to test it out a whole lot yet...soon. 
I'm looking at the V.I.O. POV.HD Digital Helmet Camera System. They look pretty sweet. I think with the the two cameras together, you could get some great video!

GoPro us pretty sweet but not ideal for huting videos in my opinion. They don't have a good viewfinder to see what you are filming if you don't have it just mounted to your hat and they don't have a zoom so even if you are archery hunting it is quite difficult to see. I use a Flip Video HD that I got for $40 on clearance online and have been really happy with it other than the no zoom. It is really small and easily fits in your pocket. I would choose it over the GoPro because it is significantly cheaper and more user friendly of you don't want to do POV shooting.

Panasonic makes a small cheaper video camera ($225 range) that I have been looking at to get a more zoom capable camera so if I were going to spend more money that is the way I would go. Just look on Amazon for Panasonic video camera and you'll find the one I'm talking about. It gets good reviews.

What I want to do is find or make a device to mount on my tripod where I can mount a spotting scope side by side with a video camera so that you can effectively hunt and use your spotting scope and camera at the same time without taking too much extra equipment.

got the lid cam from santa, have not got to try it out hunting yet but took some quick videos of us riding snowmobiles and some of our last fishing trip! video seemed pretty good and i was pretty happy with it for the cost. Will be with me always come september!! hopefully will have some good videos of the archery hunts. going to try for some steelhead in a week or to and will be making a video of that as well.

Go Pro does make a view finder, and it works great. They aren't the best cameras for filming hunts, but they do make cool POV shots and video, I have one mounted to my bow and it works great, I use the heck out them during fishing season too.

I used to carry a video camera with me everywhere I went, I still try to always have one in my truck but don't back it with me as much anymore while actually in the woods, I just never get around to getting the camera out and filming especially if I am hunting so I ditched it to save weight.

GoPro is without a doubt a great camera, just a little pricey iMO for a camera that is essentially limited to a POV camera. I would certainly enjoy having one just not willing to fork over the cash.

The hardest thing with video cameras is remembering to use it enough. I just finished editing a 10 minute video from my Colorado hunt and I was wishing I had at least another hour of footage. There is a lot of memories I did not do a good Jon
