28 1/2" Sheds
« on: January 12, 2012, 05:13:42 AM »
Found these 50 yards from my barn lying side by side.  That is a size 10 boot with them.  Measured 28.5 inside.

I do have pictures of him on the hoof.  2 weeks ago a buddy stopped by for a beer.  We hit my field with a light and saw a monster that dwarfs this buck.  The one we watched was pushing 36" wide and 24" tall.  He was a 5X6.  Never had him on camera.

On the hoof! You can see the antlers spread out.  Anyway 26-30 range.

Absolutely!   Can't argue with that.   I probably would have guessed 27 if I had seen him live.    What a great animal.

That buck was missed 8 times (archery) by 3 friends of mine that hunt my place.  Buck fever I would say.  I am giving another friend of mine first chance at him next year.  If he fails I will harvest him, that is if the wolves don't get him first!

Beautiful buck, that's neat you have his pic and now his sheds.
When you see the third, thin the herd.
Right now I'm somewhere picking up sheds.

We are just starting to get some mature bucks back since the bad winters we had a few years ago.  Most the breeding bucks didn't survive the 6-7 feet of snow that we had in eastern WA.
