Waiting 2 years to buy this gun
« on: January 13, 2012, 03:30:20 PM »
So 2010 rolled around and my new years resolution was not to buy any guns for the year. I battled through it and ended up meeting my goal. Then 2011 rolled around and i didnt get to spend much time around home due to a lovely trip to afghanistan.

So I've pretty much been waiting to years to buy a new rifle. I wanted something good, really good. Something not everyone has, but still something with a good following. The more I read into it and tried different rifles it became apparent that american rifles werent going to be able to tickle this fancy or scratch this itch.

I liked the Idea of caliber changing, straight bolt pull, and shorter rifles.

After much research and testing I found the Blaser line of rifles to fit the bill the best beating out the MO3, sauer 202, sako, steyr, and heym. It had the best of most worlds and some points that others didnt even have.

I originally ordered the R93 but found a reply from the blaser factory that due to retooling and my caliber choice it would be a 6-7 month wait.  :yike:  This information coupled with the rescent anouncement that Blaser was discontinuing the R93 line lead me toward the R8 which is supposed to be an "improvement" over the R93.

So here it is, the start of my blaser purchaces, along with the scope I intend to mount first.

Blaser R8 Standard in 7x64 Brennecke with the soon to be mounted Schmidt & Bender Summit Rifle scope

This rifle has an option to turn on the red dot in your scope when you flip off the safety, and can change calibers from 22lr to 416 rigby.

Talley Mounts are available but I'm going to use blaser's own mount which will QD and return to zero as well as swap between any blaser rifles

You don't see those everyday...good job and nice setup.
Congrats on really being different.
I never name my guns but my college crush (kinda still is) last name Bleser..pronounced Blazer.
I would get distracted if it were my gun.
