eberlestock X1 question
«

Hello all.
I am going to be using setting my son up for hunting this year he is going to be ten and I am setting up my contender G2 for him. i have been thinking about getting him an X1 with the small straps and belt. I am thinking that it would be a great way for him to carry his gun. So the question is is it truly comfortable to carry the gun that way? it looks like it might rub in your back. any input on this? I know it is not a cheap pack but I am hoping it would grow with him and last him many years.
thanks
carl

It's very comfortable to carry a gun that way for a full sized guy. The barrel sticks down low out of the pack when in the scabbard and I would wonderworry about how low it would hang on a 10 year old kid. He definitely won't be able to sit down with the pack on....but I can't either and I'm 6'4". I've had the x1 and now have the J104. Great packs either way.
I only use the scabbard when walking out or in in the dark and when getting an animal out of the woods. It's not practical at all to scabbard the rifle if there's any chance at a shot opportunity. I probably don't have to mention that but anyway....

thanks, my plan for the near future is for him to carry it in the pack anytime we are moving. he is got some time before doing to much carrying while moving. most of his hunting will be into a stand spot or coyote hunting.

I find this pack to heavy when empty and I'm thinking about selling my X1 pack. If anyone is interested I'd be willing to sell it for a good price. I need light pack to carry emerg supplies and gear with the ability to haul meat out from remote areas.
