Snow, a west side scouters dream!
« on: January 15, 2012, 07:50:36 AM »
This snow is coming at a great time! Two years ago I went out in march after a decent snow fall and was flat amazed at what I found. I followed deer tracks all over the place and found bedding areas I had no idea existed. I was amazed at the amount of deer and the areas they were hanging out and moving in.

I've got a couple of places in mind that I want to walk though tomorrow...the GPS will be active!!

And it sure does hurt with finding a few early blacktail sheds.

I was thinking the same thing, I'm going to head out in a bit and see if I cant cut a wise old bucks track and move and set up my gamecam where I think ill catch him again.
When you see the third, thin the herd.
Right now I'm somewhere picking up sheds.

 :yeah:

Exactly what I have done in the past and found some sweet little honey holes. It's a fun thing to do, really helps to build and develop your map of the area.

Just got back, just a doe on cam.  Found a spot where a few were moving, they moved early so most were snow filled but got back where I could somewhat see the track and it looked good sized and found a good spot to set up.  Setting up cams sucks in the snow when its melting and falling off trees, had it opened and changing batteries with snow dropping on it and me, didn't see it coming.   :chuckle:

I had the same thing happening to me on Sunday. I went out to go pull two of my stands i still had up and put out 3 cams. I've moved my cams as close as i can to what i think is a bucks "home" feeding/bedding area. I had to block the door of the cam to keep the snow from blowing in  :chuckle:

I've got a couple other places in mind where I've seen beds right next to large rubs so it will be interesting to see what the story in the snow tells. Would love to get pics of a nice BT in its bed!
