Vortex Scopes

I am thinking of getting the new vortex scope with the long range bdc. Has any body got one or like theres?

Dont have any of the scopes but i do have the 20x60x60 nomad spotting scope, Viper 10x42 binoculars and my wife has the Diamond back 10x42 binos. The Products are amazing and compare very closely to the higher more expensive optics. This year with our income tax we are thinking of getting a couple of these scopes. I will definentley be keeping track of where this post goes

DOes that one have target turrets, and if so, how many inches of vertical adjustment does it have ?

Don't want to thread Jack, but here is the info.  PM me for any other details.

It is listed at 65 MOA adjustment.  I am going to mount it on a 20MOA picatinny rail, which should allow me to use most of the travel.
Comes with Zero Stop, Illuminated reticle, accurate parralax adjustment.  I ordered the scope in a first focal plane reticle as well.  Talking with Travis Reddel (RBros Rifles), he said the tracking is very good on this scope.  This scope is one of the biggest bangs for the buck out there  (Most of Vortex Optics seem to be that way).

The one i am looking at is a new one and it has 75 moa and you send in your scope and info and the make a bdc turret for your guns balistics

Have 2 pst's and recently picked up the Razor HD for my .338 edge. Love it! 125 minutes of adjustment too!

Cant say enough good things about Vortex, I have two vipers, for me they are the best scopes in that price range available.

I have owned three Vipers and they all SUCKED!! Two had to go back and be worked on and one of those went back twice. The third did the same crap with complete non repeatability. In the end all were sold cheap. Not one of their scopes would track or repeat worth a damn. You could not go from 100 yard dope on the knob to 600 yard dope and back and keep the same point of impact. They SUCK if your twisting target knobs. If a guy is just mounting it, zeroing for a given yardage and holding over at distance then they would be fine but their chinsy, lame ass target knobs suck. I had the same problem with all three. Vortex would just say " We don't know what to tell you". I told them that a 16 year old Leupold with target with knobs was walking all over their Vipers ass's on the range. They told me they would take my Vipers as exchange/credit towards a PST. I told them they can keep their PST and sold all the Co-Tex crap optics and never looked back. My brother called me last week and said his Vortex was crap, I explained that was nothing new to me. Buy once cry once, I'll stick with Leupold and Nightforce for the Longrange work, thank you.

I have done a ton of research on this scope and the sightron lrmoa.  I have never heard of the vipers having trouble with dialing and every box test I have seen has tracked perfectly.  The only downfall I have heard of is optically it isn't as good of glass as others in the $1000+ range. 

I will do a full write up once I get the scope.

Write it up! Hell, you can borrow my brothers 6.5-20 Viper and test it. There was a big Mulie last year that I know appreciates the fact that it's target knobs are CRAP!

If one Vortex is a piece of crap and won't repeat, well then maybe.

If the the second is the same, it's a sure thing.

If the third is also, I'll bet my ass on it, then add the fact that scope number 4 ( My brothers) pulled the same chit.

It completely defines the Viper's repeatability as CHIT!


Don't forget, your a writer. It wouldn't matter how crappy it turned out. You would never in a million years write in black and white in a published article the words " Non Repeatable". I know that as well as you. Well, that's if you wanted to keep writing.
Don't sell yourself on some 100 yards box test, drive the piece of crap out there at 600yards and back to a 100 yards. Transition between the two for a total of ten. Five for each distance and post the target pics. I guarantee it will be crap!

Here is what I have found in my research.  This is a thread with a lot of information with a review from a guy from Everett that held nothing back.  Vortex representatives also reply within the thread.  Vortex made a design change early in production based on feedback from the initial run and offered to upgrade all of the gen 1's.  They seem like a solid company and this scope seems to perform even in the eyes of testers that have $$$ scopes (Nightforce, S&B, US Optics).

When I test the scope I will be 100% honest.  I will not put my endorsement on something that I don't feel can perform.

Also, I have to ask a question about your other vipers.  Was it that the clicks weren't 1/4 moa?  Did the scope get lost going up and down?  What model were they?  Just curious?

I have a Vortex Diamondback scope. It cost me $190.00
It works swell, I used it on top my Encore to kill my muley buck in 2010 with. I didn't dial any turrets though. I have since taken it off of that barrel and now have it mounted on my .22-250 barrel. Works sweet for that too. I put a Leupold on top of the .300wm barrel now.
 They're not all $1k+ FYI
They make a nice budget minded scope in that Diamondback for that $200 range. It's a great bang for the buck scope.
