Whats a cites permit?

  Best answer would be to Google it, but certain furbearing critters you need to have a permit to possess here in the states or Washington.   For instance I have one for the Fisher I have, otherwise it would be illegal to possess.  I'm not sure which Full bearers need them.  I imagine Lynx, wolverine, Fisher and any others along those lines.

pm big wood, he knows a guy up there that you pay and he takes you on a long trap line for a week or two, he went a couple times and said it was one of the best times he had ever had

i emailed the guy..... he gets 2500.00 for 5days.  I just want a lynx shouldnt take more than a day or two.....I can go with a houndman up there for that price

 When I went I got to keep 1 hide from every species we caght in that price, excluding wolverine.I  had to pay a couple bucks for the wolverine hide. Just remember nothing is gauranteed, trapping or hound hunting I've been on some hound hunts and not even cut a track for a weeks work. I'm not trying to steer you 1 way or the other. I love both methods. Your choice, just trying to give you some info to make an informed decision.

Whats a cites permit?

Lynx, bobcat and otter are listed under the CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) as a look a like species, meaning they are similar in looks to an endangered species. In the U.S. they have to be tagged with a CITES tag before crossing the border. CITES tags are issued by the USFWS to states that have shown they have a stable population of the animals and a management program. Tribal governments can also apply to receive CITES tags. I believe the Yakama tribe and the Colville tribe have CITES tag allocations.
Funny thing though the U.S. is the only country that requires the tags but if you wish to import CITES listed animals into the U.S. You have to obtain a CITES permit to bring them into the U.S.

Trepus outfitter seems to be the most affordable and he is a VERY good trapper.  When I do my trapline trip it will probably be with him.  Also- i made a deal to use my personal sled and save some money- the last time I looked it was ~$2000 and you get to keep a bunch of hides- including lynx, marten, fisher, wolverine (trophy fee), wolf, and beaver...
