Taxidery Competition
« on: January 17, 2012, 10:20:36 AM »
I was in Pasco to visit with my brother and discovered that there was a taxidermy compitition at the Red Lion.  I am not a taxidermist...just like looking at critters so I stopped by.  There were about 50 or less mounts...Ionly took a few pictures, but there were several life size cougars, two life size sheep and a deer that I did not get pictures of.  The first photo is for Rasbo...lol

I called my taxi yesterday to see if my bear was done and he told me he had mounts entered, I wish I knew about it would have been fun to attend.

None of the Taxidermists were identified...except one of the snake mounts had a card and the guy was from Montana.  I asked the lady at the desk and she said they did not know who did any of the work.

Maverick....that buck was a really...really nice whitetail.  Have no idea what that would cost.
Rufous....I took some, but they didn't turn out.  There were 3 good life size and one not so good one.

Cool thanks for taking the time to share. I think it is a annual show there every year. Its always right around the same time frame as the sportsmans show.

Back when my dad worked at Jonus Brothers (I think that is how they spelled it) he said a rich guy had sent in two mice that he wanted all done up because they were his house cat's first two kills...  :yike:

Actually this was the 1st annual United Taxidermy Association competition and convention. They will move around the country and have it in a different city every year from what I was told.

Maybe there is another one I am thinking of. I remember a post about one there last year this same time and we talked about it on here. I think it was at that hotel as well. My dad use to work there when he was a living there so that is why I kinda remembered the topic and the contest from last year.
