Addicted, you're lucky they took away his moderating powers.  You'd be banned for an outburst like that.

I never banned anyone while a Mod. hmm you might have been a first though :hello:

But please let me know if my 7mm findings were off?

and i've got one or two more to add to the list I didnt think about before. the 275 H&H(aka 7x57), the 7mm dakota, and the 7mm mashburn(super magnum).

heck, if all you want to shoot up to is 170-180 grains you might as well go with a 7mm cartdridge, and if you want to go 200 grains and up you better just skip the 30 cal cartridges and go straight to the 338's.  :chuckle:

Probably too late now but my vote would have to go to the 264 Win Mag (I'm on a mission to resurrect the cartridge :chuckle:) Especially if you handload. But even if you don't there are still some really good factory loads available now....Just stay away from ammo from remington  :o

Use your 30-06 and take the money you would have used on a new rifle and maybe upgrade the optics or buy a handgun or some new binoculars.  Just my opinion

:yeah:  Nothing wrong with the '06, spend the money on good optics.  Put a good scope on the '06...

My go to gun! My granddad had it made and gave it to me, excellent deer rifle!  I wouldn't hesitate to use it on elk, but I got a 338 for that. I wish they made 160gr bullets, hornady had some but not anymore. Cabelas has a 50th anniversary edition that would be awesome to own.  I'm running 140 grain accubonds now, it's a tack driver!

Good optics makes sence. A Leupold vxIII 4.5-14X40 would be a good choice! Maybe yuo want a different rifle, I am a big .270win guy, but I have an equil love for the 30-06. Brownings are nice!

So what happens when your eyes are bad enough that you can not longer see the front sight?   :bash: :bash: :dunno: :'( :'(

Time for better glasses? You could always perform the dreaded abomination maneuver of mounting a scope I guess, but that gun would be crying from just the idea.

I have already moved on to scoped rifles.  I need bifocals badly.  300.00 for just the lenses... not happening....
