Howa
« on: January 20, 2012, 07:55:27 AM »
So who owns/shoots a Howa? I just got their new catalog and am impressed with their line up, at least visually!! Their varminter with the Black Hawk tactical stock is one sweet looking gun.

Sweet. Good to know. That youth gun deal is sweet cause they give you another stock for later...

I shoot a Howa 1500 chambered in .270 Win.  It is one of the best shooting guns I have ever owned. I will out shoot my Dad's and my Wife's Remington 700s. Its a bit heaver than the 700s, it shoots very tight groups.

I have a Howa Axiom in 22-250 and Kings Desert Camo. (its a 1500 in an Blackhawk Axiom stock) I really like it, its a very accurate gun and shoots better than I can - I'm not a great precision shooter. But I use it for coyotes, especially when I am planning on a long range shot and I havent missed one yet - fingers crossed - but my longest shot with it was only about 250. Not too far for alot of guys, but for a west-siding city boy like me - its a lonnnng way!  :chuckle:  I am not real impressed with the Nikko Stirling Nighteater scope it came with, I would change it but I like the fact that the camo matches the gun perfectly. I also expected the action to be a bit smoother but its not bad - my Savage Edge seems very smooth so I expected the Howa to be even better.

I really  like it and think it looks sweet, I ALWAYS get compliments on the gun whether in the field of the range. It is a heavy pig around 14-15# maybe even more especially cuz the scope and Harris Bi-pod..... but it doesnt really bother me. I would buy another in a heartbeat!
I aint superstitious - cuz its bad luck!

I have a customized Howa in .257 A.I.   Shoot like a freaking dream.

My nephew on here pohana has one in .338 WM.  It is a shooter as well.

I have the Howa 1500 in .308. Hands down the most accurate smothest gun in my safe. I am already placing an order for another in 300wm.

They are a nice gun.  Most seem to shoot very well with very little work.  They are a bit on the heavy side though.  At least the balance of the gun feels that way.

I shoot the Varminator 1500 with nutmeg thumbhole shock in 223. I love it but the only drawback is the weight.  I do alot of walking when i coyote hunt and weight at the end of the day starts to take its toll. Great shooting guns IMO.
