Tribe trap is up[
« on: January 21, 2012, 02:46:18 PM »
Looks like they are taking another batch of Clemans sheep for the tribe.  I wonder if these are headed to Colville or where they are headed.

You have any info because I hadn't heard anything from down here about relocation?  And are you sure its the Tribes?  I was out there today and didn't see anything or anybody moving them.

I heard there are some sick ones in the herd and I heard they were trying to eliminate them out of the herd. Also those elk were smart who stayed on that side because they fed the sheep and the elk were eating their food.  Most orchard farmers are hunters so they are ok with deer in the orchards as the deer are having a tough go. there was 20+ deer I saw on old naches and more that were coming down on clemans.

P.S. has anybady seen the herd in the oak creek area this year? I think they put salt somewhere to stop them from coming down on the highway :dunno:.

Huh?  How would salt stop them?  Salt does not fill the belly!

They come down to the roads to eat salt that is used as de-icer.  It does not fill the belly but is a essential nutrient.

There was a Coville tribal member here saying they were going to move another batch this year,(Its the colville Tribe Plat, not sure of all the politics involved regarding antelope etc.)    and sure enough the trap is there.   If they had sick ones Naches, then they would have shot them.  They would not risk the time it would take to sort out that many and the exposure to healthy ones.

The elk are fileing in.  One branch antlered bull yesterday to about 15  this morning.   They are scattered the whole length of the Valley.

They are probably putting them on hellsgate, and will most likely diversify the Lincoln cliffs herd's genetics!

Bear deer and elk are seen every year so I would only assume sheep would to, I've been told they do. Have not seen for myself though...

I hope they do move them to the Colville Reservation. Reintroducing sheep to other parts of the state is not a bad thing. The Colville Tribe has excellent game management and the sheep should do well there if thats where thy're headed.
