Very cool pics. Thanks for posting. It was a bummer I couldn't get over for the capture at Clemens as it is a neat experience.
Buglebuster, do you know if they took the ram they collard? I'd be surprised if they took the older ram as I've haven't seen a ram over 4 transplanted before. They might have just needed some gps data on the Clemens sheep.

No they released him back onto clemans. They tried to not capture any older rams in the trap, but you can't keep them all out so they took some Info, tagged, collared and released.
They only took a couple rams as I recall and they were very young.

They doe this because they get sick when the population gets to high. I know a guy that slaughtered them because they was getting sick. So I see it as a good thing, plus only young sheep was taken.

This is correct! I think its "funny" how you have a problem with doing something that is better for the state, the wild sheep and the tribe. Better for everybody! If the population gets too high the sheep die. Why not move some around to other areas? Sheep were originally on the Colville Reservation so whats wrong with helping the herd there grow back strong. As a member of the Washington Wild Sheep Foundation I approve this and I think this is a great idea!

If the populations do in fact somehow get too high. . . Issue more tags!

Unfortunately that isn't always the best management tool, as hunters target a particular class of critters.   One can say...more ewe tags then.   I think it might be thought of as a better investment if we divirsified or spread out the base populations of the critters.  Get them re-established and healthy in multiple locations.....never know, a group may get whiped out from disease and we may be bringing animals from the Colville to re-seed say "The Umptanum".
