First Duck!
« on: January 21, 2012, 03:48:04 PM »
Shot this teal a couple weeks ago near the Wynoochee river.  I also shot a mallard, but to my dissapointment we couldn't find it.  :bash: Having only 1 duck didn't give me much meat, but it still added a great taste to the soup I made with it!  Definetly doing a ton of Duck hunting next year.

WTG!  Fine looking duck and better looking soup.  Nothing like warm soup after a good day duck hunting!  Keep it up!

Well, as far as the recipe, I didn't do anything specific.
1) pour some cooking oil (I used canola oil) into a pan
2) simmer duck breast in the oily pan until its almost cooked through
3) Pour chicken broth (however much you want) into a pot and begin to heat
4) chop up potatoes and celery (whatever amount you desire) and throw it into the broth
5) chop up the simmered duck and thorw that into the pot too
6) let the soup come to a boil and let it sit so everything cooks
7) it should be done whenever the potatoes are as soft as you want

Sadly, I wont be able to get back out this season.  My hunting buddy (who was visiting) went back to Montana.  We're definetly hunting a lot next season though!

I'm sure, if your parents sign off on it, there are plenty of people on here that would be willing to take you out.  I see lots of posts looking for duck partners.  Look around and ask.  offer some gas money and you'll probably have no trouble getting into a boat.  $30 buys almost 10 gallons of gas and probably a day of hunting

I'm sure Jennyfell would be up for it and I can vouch for her coolness.

I also won't be able to get out in the remainder of the season because semester finals (for school) are very soon, and I have to study ALOT.  However, I have been looking to do some coyote hunting.  Anybody know someone who might be willing to let me coyote/predator hunt with them?
