Our Yellow lab, Todd having a problem (UPDATE)
« on: January 26, 2012, 09:54:33 PM »
Our lab Todd, has what I hope is a small problem.  He has been licking back around his exuast pipe, and it was getting to where he was doing it quite often.  Cathie lifted his tail last week and looked.  there between the bottom of his tail and the top of his anus are two round area that are swollen, and quite raw.  Took him to the vet, and she said that they are pollups.  He is going in tomorrow at 0800 and have them removed.  They will be checked for cancer.  I hope that is not a factor inm any way.  She went up inside him with a gloved finger, and stated that she could not feel any more.
Several of you that have stopped by here have met him.  He is a great pet, and hunter.  He points the birds.  Just does it on his own.  To the two of us, he is like a son.  Very devoted to us.  I pray that it will be alright.  Thanks for listening.
Finally got the lab report back.  The lump is not cancer.  We have been worried sick about this.  Lots of prayers.  we are very very happy.

Hope he heals up quick.

Prayers sent.  I enjoyed meeting Todd when I was there several years ago.  He is a great dog.

That was the same year that I lost my lab due to old age, and it was great being able to pet Todd so close to losing my lab.
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

Jerry,

How did surgery go????  That big oaf sure got to my heart hanging around him.... especially at dinner time..  :chuckle: :chuckle:

Thoughts and prayers for a real good dog....
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

I go pick him up around 1500.  The surgery went well, but have to wait for test results from a lab, to see if cancer free.  The vet said this is a common problem with older dogs that still have their package.  May have to cut him if it becomes a problem.  Will do it if we have to, but the poor guy is still a virgin.  He turned 11 on Christmas day.  Passed me.  I'll be 73 on Feb 8th, Todd is now 77.  I am very happy that he dosen't act his age.
