A beautiful day for taking photos
« on: January 23, 2012, 05:47:46 PM »
I took an afternoon off from my wood shop to take a few photos. The drive took me about 8 miles away from my house to the old Northern State Mental Hospital that was closed down in the early 1970's.
My first stop was at the Northern State Hospital Cemetery. It is such a sad and somber place because there is not a single head stone in the whole place. :( 1,487 people are buried there. :(

It's sad to see the state of disrepair that the old buildings are in. :( In it's hay day, the hospital was a working, pretty much self supporting Dairy Farm that was Always meticulously Maintained. The patients at the hospital all had jobs to do to help pay for their "keep"; unless of course they were a danger to themselves and all of the other inmates, plus the community.

Amazing photos, are those digitally altered to make them have such sharp focus?  They Look great.
If you dont do it this year, you'll be one year older when you do!

Thank you. :) My Canon 7D with my Canon L series Professional lenses do a great job of taking ultra sharp photos. I do a tiny bit of editing on contrasts, exposures and saturation and that's it. :)

I really like old building photos, especially old barns. The old weathered wood has lots of character. Great photos.
times before with just leather, wool and cotton.

Great pics GPR.  It sure was a good day today.  I was up in the snow shed hunting, but didn't find any.  Wished I would have brought my camera.  Spring isn't far off.  Maple sap was running hard today.
