11Yr Old Nails Bull Sprig!
« on: January 23, 2012, 08:04:08 PM »
I took my boy out Friday for an afternoon field hunt on super over-pressured public fields by BP Refinery at Cherry Point. He nailed this amazing Pin tail Drake an hour after we got set up. He even called this duck in all by himself- Not bad for a kid who has only been on a handful of hunts!

Boy insisted that I point out that he nailed it out of the sky! He also nailed a beautiful Widgeon that day, also flying...lol

My boy and I hunt public open access land, we are both amateurs- I am on my 2nd season Waterfowl hunting myself. We are basically self taught so far, and we are addicted like the rest of you. I was a skybusting foolish idiot last year and I am sure that everybody in north Whatcom county hated me but this year we got a bunch of decoys and calls. I practiced mostly the feeding chuckle and we nail them with the landing gear down now! Almost as big a thrill as whacking a deer when they fly over waaay up, you blast a hail and they turn back to ya, finish them with a feeding chuckle and some #2 to take them home!  8)

He has a bright future. Mount that sucker and give it to him for his bday. Or save it and give it to him on graduation for a tearful moment.

Not sure where you're located, but I've had 3 birds done by Old Heritage Taxidermy in Selah.  Turned out beautiful. His number is 1-877-900-3824
Now therefore, please take your weapons, your quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field and hunt game for me
