Hunting partner close to Goldendale
« on: January 24, 2012, 11:11:55 AM »
I just moved to Goldendale and have been a hunter all my life (I'm in my mid 20's). I enjoy ALL kinds of hunting. I have never elk hunted before and would love to go. I have hunted deer, ducks, geese, rabbits, squirrels, coyotes, coons, moose, and upland birds.  I have lived on the east coast and the mid-west and am now here (I get around 8))I am looking for someone nearby that hunts, especially waterfowl, to show me where to go, get me more familiar with regs and laws etc etc. I'd be willing to drive some or meet halfways, carpool etc. I don't know anyone here and have only met one other guy that hunts but he lives pretty far from here.

Cool once i get all my official residency stuff and hunting season gets closer perhaps one of you could show me around the area. Haven't done much exploring yet. Just a few trips to the Dalles and one to Portland. Did see 15 or so deer walking through town the other day though. That is a good sign.

Lots of public ground up on the mountain. It is private ground but open to walk in hunting by the public.

How much pressure does it get usually? I had some bad experiences with public land in MN.

It gets hunted. Depending on the season and how much foot work you do you can get away from the people. I spend days elk hunting on the mountain and never see anyone. I get back in there aways
