I agree with you, or a .45-70. I think it would be awesome to take a big animal at long range with a buffalo gun.

Not at all.  In fact I had a friend that waited about 3 years for a new one on order.  Received it and went to North Dakota and shot a buffalo.  Something he always wanted to do.

I have a friend that bought the Shilo-Sharps and uses it for Pronghorn..I too think it would be sweet to have one. The guns Uberti builds are beautiful!!!

I however, having grown up handling a lever gun, have always wanted to get a browning BLR in something like 308... I think that would be a Sweet Gun! But all in all, I could never pick just one... too many cool guns!

I have a Savage model 99 in 250-3000 that I'd like to shoot a blacktail with.

Also have a single shot with a bull barrel in .280 Rem that I'd like to get out and kill something with.  I always just end up grabbing the trusty .300 win.........
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

Oh and Doug, that's not why we think you're weird. There are so many other reasons!

that could be such a cool long range rig.

I would be afraid to ask how many animals they wound on that show.  :twocents:

Probably less than they average opening weekend warrior who only shoots once a year.

trophyhunt and i personally know the guys at best of the west, we actually had them up here back in about 02 or 03, they dont ever wound animals, those guys know what they are doing, we got to shoot one of their originals, i made a couple shots at 700ft short of a mile and hit a basketbal sized rock both times, i have done alot of shootn so it was actually pretty simple, having said that those guns and scopes they build take along time and the bullets that you get from them are built specifically for that gun and are very expensive and it requires alot of practice, those guys that do most of their shootn log each bullet that they put through that gun, john their original long range guy shot an antelope on the run at 150yds with an opensight 45 and dumped it, one of the coolest shots i have ever seen, now i got to shoot that gun and so did trophy, i took one shot and handed it to trophyhunt and never shot it again, holy crap it was crazy how hard that thing kicked, and it was amazing how awesome john could shoot it, those guns and scopes they build are worth it, but dont buy one if you cant afford to shoot it, and at 80 dollars for 20 rounds it gets real expensive real fast, shootn long range takes constant practice and alot of common sense oh and a real good yardage finder and you have to be good at measuring m.o.w   :twocents:
