I don't know about doubling your catch, but you can't put a hook into something you can't feel biting.

I will agree with your use of the cheapest rod on the market for fishing a bobber. YOu are feeling the fish you are watching an indicator. The same can be said for plunking.But drift fishing you need a sensitive rod or you need your finger on the line with the pole always pointing at the bait so that you can feel the fish through the line. Most like to use the sensitive rods.

I do it all the time fishing for bass using plastics, you watch your line. As well as bobber fishing for steelhead.
