I got turned off by the name "Fetha Stix" from the get go!, sounds like some pimp named the rod  :chuckle: Then I seen one and am convinced they are a over rated piece of crap!  Fenwick or Lamiglas forever!!!

Team Loomis all the way!  Lamiglas lost my buisness when they started making cheap POS rods in China  :twocents:

Do you know who owns Loomis? Shimano... think about it. Loomis used to be a great rod and a great company who would stand behind their well made products.

The majority of my rods are Lami's, I've had great service from them and only a few of the blanks are made out of the country, but are still assembled here in the states.

The only bad things I can say about Fetha Styx is about the jerks they have representing their products on TV... other than that they make GREAT rods and customer service is great as well. I had a good experience with them last year when I had to send them a rod with a chipped ceramic guide and needed it back in time for a major tuna tournament. If I were to switch out my rods from Lami's it would be without a doubt Fetha Styx, the few I do have are amazing rods and so far have been able to withstand the punishment we put them through, throughout the year

I think that most higher end rods are pretty good and enjoyable to fish.  I have Loomis, Lamis, Sage, etc...  All nice.  Anymore I like to build my own and they are all Rainshadows.  Guess what they are nice too.

With high end gear it is just another Ford/Chevy/Toyota... debate.  Its personal preference.  I think where the high end companies set themselves apart is with their customer service.  Nobody takes care of you like Sage does, thats why I like them.  Lami and Loomis are ok as well.  Won't buy a Fetha Styx (or P-Line or Tica for that matter) because of HawgQuest.  Cant stand the constant pimping.  Like nobody can catch a thing with Izorline or an old school Bantam...  I guess thats the way the system works though.

I say fish with what you can afford/like or get a good deal on.

I'm a St. Croix guy for casting and spinning rods. Ive never had an issue with customer service and up to this point hte rods have been bomb proof. As for fly rods I currently am runnin 2 sage rods and a loomis GL3 that I built up from a blank. You wont see a Feather Stix strapped to the back of my float tube (dont have a real boat yet).

Ugly Stik.  Only pole I'll ever own.  Can't beat the pole for the price

For the price they are great!  They will work.......(i got one) but you might double your catch rate with a lami or loomis. :twocents:

Im pretty sure i was drooling the whole time i got to try out a lamiglass, I casted to the same spot i had been casting for the last hour and was really amazed at the diffrence i was feeling on the bottom!!

If you really think that an expensive rod is going to double your catch rate, nothing anybody says will ever change your mind.

I don't know about doubling your catch, but you can't put a hook into something you can't feel biting.

I will take every advantage i can get I.E. really good rods, reels and personall i think all the good ones Snapaglas,Gloomis/Feather stix are about the same. You cannot compare those to an ugly stik that being said you know their is allways that guy who looks like elmer fud who wacks a steele in front of you with a snoopie pole and a spinner.

Nothing personal on the forth coming comment

1.  Feather Stix and XRodz staff do not know how to start a conversation.  Heck I went to their display area they had their back to me so I grabed a rod and wipped it in the air.  That got their attention.

2.  There is new Gary Loomis company called North River Composites.  They make a nice blank and there was a company that uses the rod blanks.  The rods seamed to be pretty nice.  Not sure how they handle broken rods...

3.  Lami,  Well when I first started I picked up a 110 dollar rod that they do not make any more.  I broke about 8 inches off the top.  THey do not make it any more so THE COMPANY RULES from Lamiglass is I am in the up grade.  The Lamiglass rules are that you get 60% off the MSRP.  I looked at the MSRP of the Certified Pro.  It is 320 dollars.  If I pay the 10 dollars fee for the exchange than add the 60% off I am still shelling out 160 dollars when all I wanted was pay the 10 dollars and get my rod replaced.   When people tell me their warrentee is great I am not a believer.

4.  The return policy for XRodz and North River Compositis are suspect.  But the Feather Stix seams pretty straight forward.

Yes you can.  I do it all the time fishing for bass using plastics, you watch your line.  As well as bobber fishing for steelhead.

I  will agree with your use of the cheapest rod on the market for fishing a bobber.  YOu are feeling the fish you are watching an indicator.

The same can be said for plunking.

But drift fishing you need a sensitive rod or you need your finger on the line with the pole always pointing at the bait so that you can feel the fish through the line.  Most like to use the sensitive rods.

My point is that most people use the most expensive rod out there to say they have it.

You can watch a bobber or the line with a broomstick or a stick.  It's the FEELING that is so much better.  Running a nice rod is amazing, especially in cover.  When you can easily tell rocks from wood from weeds, from fish tail slapping a lure to fish grabbing a lure, it's worth it.
