I like talleys but my new favorite are the DNZ dead nutz.

I am a huge fan of the dnz dead nutz now. I did a bunch of research before I bought mine (I tend to ever do this for just about everything I buy.) Guy who did the install for me said it was a good choice and his favorite as well. Their hardware doesn't fit with some torx drivers though.

2.  I am in the process of purchasing a new magnum rifle.  What scope mounts/base would you recommend.  I want something that will hold up to the rigors of hunting, and the beating of a magnum recoil.  I have been looking at the Talley rings and bases, as well as Leupold.

mounts/rings dont get much sturdier than WARNE.

Talley and Deadnutz are some interesting designs too.

Warne Maxima permanent attached rings are my favorite. I use them on everything. They dont budge. Use lock tite on the bases.

I appreciate everyone helping me out with these rings. 

I had a .338 when  I was in college.  The scope slipped inside of the rings, and it seems like it was never zeroed in.  I finally got rid of the gun, because I had more confidence in my red ryder.    I am getting ready to kick the football again, and do not want to have anything like my previous experience happen.

I have heard of some guy putting a thin coat of finger nail polish on their rings to break the friction?

I've always used Leupold and have never had an issue.

14 pounds......sarcasm. the warne are good sturdy rings, but heavy. I like the fact that you can't break a talley or dnz, and they weigh about 10% of the warne rings.

Seekins are awesome. I have a set of his serialized rings and base on one of my rigs, but not many want to spend that much on a scope.....let alone rings.

you should look into a scope ring lapping kit for a better hold on the scope. Even rings that say they dont need it end up needing it.

Here is some leupold dual doves that I mounted last week.....notice the poor contact, this is after lapping for a while.

Spray the innerds of the receiver with brake cleaner. Works good.
